Quality Boots
Saturday, 28 June 2014  |

Buying motorcycle boots can be a real lottery these days, especially if you are in between sizes or have wide feet (like me). The plethora of micro-fibre boots too is bewlidering and confusing. they claim better abraision but hmmm...I dont know. In my book, quality leather ticks all the boxes every time.

It was a breath of fresh air then to see that Sidi are still making decent boots in real cowhide. I ordered from Module Moto who's customer service is second to none, and the boots arrived a few days later.

Goretex lining promises total waterproof performance and breathability. I would have given these boots a full 5 stars on build quality alone. They are up there with the very best.

However, there are a few issues on fit, like with most boots these days. Firstly, the ankle section is too tight fitting to wear with leathers or textile trousers that are true to size on inseam length, plus tight around the lower calf. This makes doing the zip up quite difficult and I can see this being a weak point for the future unless the boots stretch a bit.

Sizing up one size leaves plenty of room in the toes and for wider fitting feet leaves a snug but comfortable fit. Walking around is fine.

On the bike, things are pretty good with good feedback through the sole, decent protection and smart looks without resembling a transformer. The only gripe here for me is the Italian habit of sizing the soles very narrow. This can make finding narrower rearsets awkward and several times my feet slipped off the pegs. Its so unnecessary to skimp on solde width and dangerous in some instances. However, keeping your ankles ttight in and adjusting riding style to suit soon makes this less of an issue.

I would have given a full 5 stars had it not been for the overly firm ankle and calf fitment (and I consider myself to be average in the leg stakes!) and for the narrow sole.

Make no mistake, these are top league in the quality stakes, the leather is superbly tanned and decent quality, protection is great and value is fantastic. If you have large calve muscles and big ankles, look elsewhere as these will likely be too tight to zip over your leathers. If you're average in those stakes, ensure your inseam on leathers is a few inches shorter than for regular trousers and you'll be fine and whatever you do, size up one size.

Ordered these for my husbands birthday, this was the best price I could find anywhere on the internet for the boots he wanted, and once ordered they arrived quickly (actually on his birthday which was even better!) and he's totally in love with them, will definitely use module moto again in the future.
